This research project was developed by Eszter Gantner and Heidi Hein-Kircher on the
basis of a summer school 2013 on Knowledge Transfer and urbanisation in East central
Europe During the 19th century. The first results had been improved in the frames of
various events, such as the panel "Emerging Cities – Knowledge and Urbanisation in
Europe’s Borderlands 1880–1945" At the EAUH 2016 – 13th International Conference on
Urban History in Helsinki And the workshop „Urban peripheries?“Emerging cities in
Europe´s South and East, 1850-1945 (26-27 September 2016 Barcelona) organised by the
Herder institute and the Institutció Milà i Fontanals, CSIC, Barcelona.
